Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
For checking if Ballygarth Castle is accessible to the public (or how to get permission) try emailing MeathHeritage (info@meathheritage.com) and/ or tthe Heritage Officer at Meath County Council:
tel: +353 (046) 9097000
email: customerservice@meathcoco.ie
BALLYGARTH CASTLE
- 1372 First documented reference to castle
- 1641 Forfeited to the Crown by the Netterville family
- 1660 Pepper family confirmed by Charles II as owners of Ballygarth Castle and estate
I see also that Mr Pepper gets a mention in the history of Ballygarth Castle in this folklore story (click here).
Best of luck!

Hello again: I have heard back from my contact who was also making enquiries on your behalf. However, if you have made your own enquiries, I will tell him to hold off. As you seem to have a lot of information on the Pepper family, it would be great for other members if you would share some of this with an Ancestor profile on the XO Chronicles tab which is located at the top of this page. You will find that others who may be researching the same family may have other information which will assist you with your research. Have a wonderful trip and please let us know how you get on with your trip and your research. Kind regards, Jane

Hi, please delete 'th Castle' in the first line. Not sure what happened.
