Looking for information on the following people (My great Grandfather & Grandmother:)

John Brannen & Bridget Roulan were married in Geneva, NY in 1862. Both came from Mayo. Ireland XO located the following possible matches:

John Brennan

Born March 24, 1833

Crossboyne & Tagheen RC Parish

Father was Patrick, Mother was Mary Moran Informant was Patrick & Anne Brennan

Two possible Bridget Rowlands

Born January 15, 1844

Knockfarnagh Parish

Father was John Rowland, mother was Mary Merick

The other Bridget was born January 13, 1844

Cloughbrack Parish

Father was Peter Rowland and mother was Sarah Timlin

John & Bridget had 11 children, 8 who reached adulthood. John's sister Mary lived in Geneva as well and died in 1867.

John went by Brannen and Bridget went by Roulan. Four of John's sons switched to Brennan. We believe John & Bridget were illiterate, but had jobs all their lives. All thier kids were educated and went on to live the American dream, as did the rest of their ancestors.

Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!

I tried to locate prior correspondence on this family so we can see what info was provided before but was unsuccessful. What was the date of your earlier message and the subject line? Thanks!

  • Hello Roger,

You actually found the information on John and two Bridget's a year ago or so. I thought I would put it on the message board to see if I get any hits. It's worth a shot. Fact is, we don't know anything about John & Bridget;s life in Ireland. Some of the other family members on my paternal side are from Castlebar (Gallagher's and Gannon's). They ended up in Geneva too. Ultimately, I think I have to come to Mayo and do some research! I might not find any ancestry facts, but I'll have fun looking.

    Best regards,

    Tom
