I am searching for any BOLGER or ALLWELL family members that might help me get further back in time in my family history.

My 2x Great Grandmother Bridget BOLGER was born circa April 1830 in Carnew, Co Wicklow, the daughter of James and Margo Bolger (née Gregan).

She was baptised on 2 May 1830 at St Bridget RC Church, Tomacork, Co Wicklow.  The Baptism Register records the baptism date as 1830 May 2nd; her name as Bridget; her parents as Jas. Bolger & Margo Gregan; her sponsors as John Neil and Eliza Cosgrave; and residence as Carnew.  I know nothing else about her parents.

She married Andrew ALLWELL on 9 May 1852 at St Bridget's RC Church, Tomacork, County Wicklow.  The Marriage Register records the date of marriage as 1852 May 9th; their names as Andrew Allwell & Bridget Bulger; Patrick & Elen Simpson as witnesses of the marriage; and their residence as Tombrain.

They had six children:  James Allwell (1853-1928), Andrew Allwell (1855-1880), Thomas Allwell (1857-1886), Patrick Joseph Allwell (1859-1929), Francis Allwell (born 1862) and Margaret Allwell (1864-1887).

Andrew Allwell (1827-1894) was an Irish Constabulary officer and he emigrated to New Zealand in July 1879 but Bridget remained living in Tombreen with their children.  She received an Irish Constabulary pension.

She died on 10 August 1883 at Carnew, WIC and was buried on 12 August 1883 at St Bridget RC Church, Tomacork, WIC.

I'd be delighted to hear from anyone connected with the BOLGER or ALLWELL families.  Thank you.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!.

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland but was unable to locate the marriage record even though Roots has the Tomacork marriage records prior to 1830. Here is a link to the parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0586  in case you want to look for the record. You will also note that there is a gap in baptismal records from November 1797 thru 1806. I was unable to find a good lead on a baptismal record for Margo or James and if they were from Tomacork parish possibly they were born in the gap period.

You may already have the record but I did locate a baptismal record for a brother James. See below.

I don't know if your James Bolger was still alive in 1854 when the Griffiths Valuation survey was completer but there is a James Bolger listed in Carnew. https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/wicklow/carnew.htm
