I am trying to find out what became of Bridget, born in Limerick, after her husband, Daniel Sweeney (McSweeney), Coast Guard drowned tragically off the Coat of County Antrim in 1868. Also their son Hugh Sweeney, who was discharged from the navy about the time that his father was drowned.

Hi Clare,
Do you have marriage or baptismal certs for any of your ancestors mentioned above? That might help locate certain parishes or areas. I also suggest you get in touch with Glens of Antrim Historical Society. Such a tragic event would definitely have been news worthy at the time and there might be a significant record of the drowning locally, perhaps knowledge of the family. Their website is here --> https://antrimhistory.net/contact-us/
Good luck in your search!

Thanks David, I paid for a researcher in Ireland to find the birth certificates for Bridget, her husband Daniel and their two sons High and Daniel. I have these and also newsapaper cuttingf about the Cost Guard tragedy in which Dabiel died. Where I have met a brick wall is with Bridget after the death of her husband and her sons. At the very keast i would like to know when and where they died and where they are buried. I suspect life would have been very difficult for Bridget as a poor widow at that time.
