Hi, Im researching my family history and Bridget O'Calaghan dob 1866 is my great grandmother.  Her parents were: William O'Calaghan and Ellen Leahy.   Bridget married in Australia in 1893 and resided in Gympie, Queensland Australia for the rest of her life, died 16/2/1938 .   Bridget Married James Dwyer, born 1864 Ballycahill.  (immigrated to Australia in 7.5.1886 on vessel  "Duke of Sutherland" Age 23, single passenger, occupation L Irish decent, origin  Tipperary, Ireland Religion: RC Bounty passage,) James Dwyer and Mary O'keefe were his parents.

 

 I cant find any information pre Australia on Bridget  or James or their families, or  immigration for Bridget , or whether she had siblings and if other family members came out to Australia. I have done an Ancestry, and FTDNA,  DNA test and have had several matches with people in Ireland,  I have emailed them, but no replies yet.  If anyone can shed some light on this puzzle for me, Id be very appreciative.  Thanking you.

    I was not able to find any record for Bridget O'Calaghan or any children of William Calaghan and Ellen Leahy. I looked for church baptismal records and also civil records of birth from 1864-1867.

    I had more success (I think) with James Dwyer. The record I found was for a James Dwyer in 1851. This could be a different James but the parents names match. The church was Upperchurch which is just to the west of Ballycahill/Holycross. I also found a number of siblings for this James. See below. Let me know what you think.

    Hi Roger,  thank you very much for your reply ,  id love this James Dwyer to be the one im looking for but there is a 13 year difference in birth years.  I found his obit from the newspaper and it states he died at 66 years old and the notice is in the year 1930.  Thank you very much for taking the time to research for me.
