Can anyone please throw light on or give advice on this conundrum. I’m here on behalf of my friend Anne Hargreaves as I’m helping her with family history.
Her grandparents were David Hargreaves (1854-1913) and Bridget Judge (1853-1924). Bridget came from Mayo. Bridget’s parents were John Judge b.1824 (parents James Judge and Mary Melleny) and Ann Harte (1829-1862). They married in Addergoole in 1845. Bridget’s year of birth is approximate, going by the 1911 UK census. Her siblings were Mary b.1847, Anthony b. 1848, Pat 1855, Barbara 1857-1915, Thomas b. 1859. All were baptised in Addergoole. However, the mystery is that we can find no baptism for Bridget. Where might she have been born? The family moved to Rochdale UK sometime between the birth of Thomas in 1859 and the 1861 census. At this stage neither Anthony nor Pat appear in the family.

K. Fortune:
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland but did not see a record for Bridget. Since there was a gap between 1848-1855 Bridget was likely born in that period. I went thru the Addergoole parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0736 from 1849-1855 and did not see a Bridget Judge record. Some of the pages were faint but in general the register was in good shape. Not all baptisms made it to the register sometimes the priest just forgot to add the entry. That time period was a very difficult period in Ireland.
Let me know if you have any questions.
