  • Hi, I found a Michael Bruton who married Margaret Killarney and had a daughter Annie in Dublin in 1843. They moved to Illinois ad Annie married Christopher Byrne. Is this the right family? If so, I'll continue searcing this line.

    All the best,

    Teresa

  • Hi, I found the following information for Michael on www.irishgenealogy.ie, I will continue looking for information about Laurence.

Michael moved to Dublin and married Margaret Killarney, where the following births took place:

Catherine was baptised 11 Sept. 1840 in St. James Roman Catholic church. Sponsors were Pat Grady and Eliza Killarney

Anne was baptised 3 April 1842 in St. James RC church. Sponsors were James Grady and Anne Killarney. From www.familysearch.org Annie married Christopher Byrne and lived at 4705 W. Van Buren, Cook, Illinois. She died there on 2 June 1922.

Thomas was baptised 24 Feb 1845 in Rathmines RC church. Sponsors were John and Margaret Chaise

Laurence was baptised on 10 March 1846 in Rathmines RC church. Sponsors were William (Gulielmo) Chaise and Joanna (Wale?)

  • Hi,

I'm sure you have already seen this, but I was looking for Lawrence and Sarah's marriage cert, as the bride and groom's fathers' names are usually mentioned. I got the following information from familysearch.org. There is no image of the origianl marriage cert but if you contact Cook County Genealogy at the following website you might be able to get a copy of their marriage cert https://genealogy.cookcountyclerk.com/

    Name:Lawrence Bruton Age:45 Birth Year (Estimated):1834 Birth Date:1834 Birthplace:Of Chicago, Cook, Illinois Spouse's Name:Sarah Preston Spouse's Age:23 Spouse's Birth Year (Estimated):1856 Spouse's Birth Date:1856 Spouse's Birthplace:Of Chicago, Cook, Illinois License Type:Marriage Event Date:13 Apr 1879 Event Place:Chicago, Cook, Illinois

The above says that Lawrence's birth place was Chicago but in the census and the birth records of his children he has stated that he was born in Dublin. Michael also stated that he was born in Dublin. What does Archerstown relate to? Were their parents from Co. Meath? There are quite a few Bruton's from Meath but it looks like both brothers lived in Dublin. What other information do you have about them so that I can narrow it down. I'm assuming you have seen all of the family information on familysearch.org etc?
