I have a friend in Wales who is trying to trace her family. She is descended from a Robert Buckley b. about 1836 in County Kilkenny, who came over to Wales and married a Margaret Roberts in 1857. He was a gardener or perhaps a "master gardener" which may mean he was some sort of landscaper. He is listed as "gardener, journeyman" on his marriage record. The mystery is, of course, his Kilkenny roots. His father was Edmund Buckley, a "master gardener," deceased in or before 1857. I find a record of an Edmund Buckley in Callan in 1827 and in Gowran in 1845... don't know if they are the same man, or, if they are two different men, which one I am looking for. Any information about Buckley families in County Kilkenny will be gratefully received. Thank you very much.
