Hi there; I am wondering if anyone can help me to locate burial records for my great grandparents and two of their children. I have found their death certificates but am unable to find burial information or discover which cemetery they are in. My great Grandmother was Grace Meikle born 23 March 1871 in Edindorough, Scotland. She was a Presbyterian. She moved to Ireland around 1894/95. She converted to Catholicism and married my great grandfather John McGarry on June 12 1895 in the church in Kilmacud, Rathdown, Dublin. Grace & John (Jack) had a son John in 1898 who also died in 1898, only 6 weeks old. Their fourth child, also named John was born in 1908. He survived four years and died in 1912. Grace died in Loughlinstown Hospital on December 7 2916. My great grandfather John McGarry was born on September fourth 1872 in Glencullen, Rathdown, Co. Dublin. After Grace died, John remarried to Mary Anne Fitzsimons on Sept. 5 1918 John is believed to have died on Feb. 2 1932 in Loughlinstown Hospital . John's second wife Mary Anne is buried in Deansgrange Cemetery with her two children and daughters-in-law . John is not in that grave . My search is for any record of the burial of John ,Grace or the two boys. Any help with this search would be very awesome. I have been looking for a very long time.without success. Thanks in advance to anyone with any suggestions Regards Christine

  • Hi Chris

The 1916 death record of Grace McGarry states her address is recorded as Newtownpark 1916 and that she died at Loughlinstown Workhouse.

    • Newtownpark, Blackrock, Co. Dublin is very close to Deansgrange Cemetery.

    •  Loughlinstown Workhouse had its own cemetery at Cherrywood Road, Dublin.

    • For burial records for this district see dlrcoco.ie/en/cemeteries/burial-records

That she was the wife of a labourer it is unlikely that the family could have afforded a headstone or newspaper obituary.

    • I checked the newspaper archives just in case but no results, unfortunately.
