This is listed as the residence of "Julia Raftery" on the registry of her marriage to "James Ford" on 26 Jan 1875 at he RC chapel of Caltra in the Registrar's District of Clonbrock in the Union of Mountbellew.  I believe this may have been a single residence or small hamlet no longer in existence as I draw a blank searching Google and the 1901 & 1911 Irish censuses.

New but related question.  If a child is born in a registration district other than the permanent residence of the parents, where will the birth be registered?

I believe the townland is Ballintleva in Killosolan civil parish.

    1901 census  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Caltra/Ballintleva/

Regarding registration of births, parents had 30 days to register the birth. I think it would depend on the circumstances of the family i.e. how long were they staying in their temporary situation which would dictate where the birth was registered.

  • Thanks for the info. Mr. McDonnell.  Would never have thought to phoneticize the name and look for similars.  Even iif I had, without the lead to the Killosolan civil parish I would probably still have been lost

    Have a great day!
