Shayne87,
If Daniel was born in 1830, per above death record, he would have been 12 years old when James was born in 1842...are you sure about the relation and dates?

Hi Carolyn , the age of death for Daniel is incorrect on the death record . A 1851 scotland census has a estimated birth of 1801, and the 1861 census has 1811. I have a feeling the Cairney name was spelt different in Ireland before the family moved to Scotland. Name variants make it very difficult to work it all out.
James Cairney (coal miner, age 82), widower of Isabella McCrory, died on July 17, 1925, at Omoa House, Cleland, Western District of Shotts, Lanark, Scotland. His usual residence was 18 Reid Street, Salsburgh. His parents were Daniel Cairney (labourer, deceased) and Jane McAleece (deceased). He died at 9h 55m a.m. from senile debility. Informant was his son, Daniel Cairney.
