Good day, I know there's a thread on the Cantwell family. My connection is Judith Cantwell 1795-1862 daughter of James Cantwell and Joanna Kelly. Judith married Peter Finnerty/Fennerty (who had a brother Patrick) The had a number of children, Honorah 1830 1836-1897 is my GG-GM. (the other Finnerty children were Mathew, Peter, Michael, Patrick and Mary) Honora, Peter, Michael emmigrated to Stamford, CT, USA. Honora prior to 1870 and possibly prior to 1860 (there is an Ann working for the Strowbridge family) There is a batism record of 3 Aug 1830 for her, but all the US Census show her as being born about 1836 and her grave stone says died 10/31/1897 age 60 years old. So I know these things are a little fuzzy. But the DNA matches to the Cantwell family makes me think she's one in the same.
Honora married a Martin Clark 1835-1908. I'm been blocked on finding anything more on Martin that I can say with certainty. Coinsidently, There is a Martin Clark born in Offaly to a Patt Clark and Elizabeth Murry. (guessing they would have been born around 1815). Does anyone have a Clark(e) or Finnerty connection in their tree that may match with mine? Would love to share any findings.
Thank you,
James Clark

Hello James
Firstly welcome to Ireland Reaching Out
Question - how do you mean you have been blocked from finding out anymore on Martin Clark
Martin Clarke was born in Rahan October 29th 1835 to Patrick Clarke and Eliza Murray, Godparents were Jas (maybe Joseph) Smyth and Eliza Kelly.
Attached is the record

Honorah was Baptised on the 29th July 1930 in Killina in St Carthages Church in the Parish of Rahan.
Parents were Peter Finnerty and Judith Cantwell, Godparents were Edward Kinahan and Winifred Kelly. If Honorah was Baptised on July 29th she was born probably 2/3 days earlier. (Baptism record attached)

Hi Geraldine -
Do you know if Michael had other brothers, namely Patrick? Still trying to find some kind of marriage or birth records for Patrick Cantwell and Mary Grogan both born around 1820 and married around 1840.
Maybe I’m also looking for a John Henry Cantwell if the traditional naming convention was used.
I do know their son, John Henry b. 1844 was born in Rahan- was verified using an old employment application.
Thanks,
Kathryn Regel

Hi Geraldine,
I think perhaps the Patrick baptized in 1829 may be too young to be my Patrick, IF that was also his birth year. I would think he would have been closer to his wife’s age - she was born in 1823, and their children born in the early 1840s.
You also reference above a Patrick born in 1820. Is that the same person? I’m a little confused.
Thanks,
Kathryn

I have searched all the 1844 records for John Henry in Rahan baptisms but could not find him. (might have to look again)
Do you have a record of his birth

Hi,
No record of John Henry’s birth. I know he was born in 1844 (obituary, headstone and census). On an employment application in the US, he listed his birthplace as Rahan. But nothing official at all like a baptism record. If he is the first born son, is there a good likelihood that his paternal grandfather was also named John?
Thanks!
