Thanks to the folks of IrelandXO I traced my mother's Kearney (Carney) line to the Letter townland where I found my great grandparents were Jame and Mary McEntire Carney.  Baptismal records list Bridget 1846, Mary 1851, Judith 1854, James 1856, Thomas 1862, Anne 1866 and Peter 1858.  Peter was my grandfather and immigrated to the Providence section of Scranton, PA with his sisters Judith and Mary.  I never knew these grand aunts existed even though they lived blocks from me and died before I was born.  All three used the Kearney surname in the US.

In tracing my paternal and maternal roots I've discovered that there is a treasure of useful information in the old obituaries that mention remaining siblings in Ireland.  Being able to match a surname AND a list of family names provides a valuable pattern for researchers of family baptismal records.  I thank Roger at IrelandXO for finding the sibling pattern in my Carney family.
