Seeking information on the birth/baptism of Patrick Carrigan son of Frank and Rose Lyon Carrigan. In the US Patrick was RC. He was born in Donegal 1811 +/- 5 years and died in Poultney, Vermont, US 4 May, 1888. His son buried him on his farm so no stone. His daughter’s death certificate says her father was from Donegal. Found Lyons and Kerrigan families in and around Stranorlor. Any clue would be most welcome.

Welcome back to Ireland Raeching Out!

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to locate any church records in Co. Donegal pre-1850. I did do a search on the subscription site Roots Ireland with no success.

I looked at the 1830 Tithe listings and di find Kerrigans up in Stranorlar parish but none for Francis or Frank. However, I I read your note Stranorlar is not the definite location.

  • For the Tithe Applotments, one townland had not Kerrigan and Lyons living in it. That townland was Meanbane. Other townlands of the Stranorlor Civil Parish has one surname or the other but not both.
