My GGGrandmother Catherine Egan was b. c1780,i have a copy of a letter written by her dated 1857 in which she states she has not heard from family in Ireland for some time.
This information is all i have on Catherine's heritage,need all the help i can get.

There is not enough information in your message for us to assist you. We don't have many RC church records back to 1780 and even if we found a Catherine Egan baptismal record, we could not confirm that it was your Catherine. Egan was a very common surname in Ireland in the mid-19th century. There were over 1500 Egan households in Ireland at that time.
Can I suggest that you test your DNA? You will get a number of matches and from contacting close matches, you may be able to get more info on your Egan family in Ireland.

Hi Roger.
Catherine Egan possibly moved to New Castle upon Tyne as 1852 census states, she married John Dunn shipwright, can not find marriage, they were living in Portsea Hampshire in 1808.
Catherine may have changed her religion as all children were baptized in the Wesleyan church.
I have had my DNA tested and contacted a couple with Irish connections but have no replies but will keep trying.
