Im trying to trace ancesters from Leitrim. The only info I have is Michael Corcoren born Leitrim 1840 ish parents Lawrence and Bridget nee McDonald. Lawrence is listed as a farmer,no parish name just the word Leitrim on the 1861 Scottish census when Michael relocated to Edinburgh. His parents names and occupation came from his death cert. I appreciate most records were lost in 1922 so I will need to rely on church records etc. Ive had a few people try and help me with no luck so I thought I would give this message board a try

William:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find any baptismal records for children of Lawrence Corcoran and Bridget McDonald. Many of the RC parishes in Co. Leitrim have records starting later than 1840. I also checked the 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Leitrim and although there were five Corcoran records none were Lawrence.
You may want to add Michael Corcoran to our XO Chronicles site. https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-database

Thank you for that Roger. I think haystack and needle comes to mind. Is it possible Lawrence went by a differant name eg Larry but that still leaves Bridget. Its a shame the census record isnt more specific it only says Leitrim..
