We are searching for our ancestor Patrick Costelloe (Costello) who arrived in Australia aged 10 in 1853 with his family mother Mary (born about 1805) who was a widow. Mary's other children were Daniel (21yrs) Margaret (19) and Cathrine (16). On their arrival in New South Wales, Australian their documents states that they were from O'dourney, County Kerry, Ireland. On a subsequent death certificate in Australia it states that Patrick's mother was Johanna Hogan and his father was Jeremiah Costelloe.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • You should search www.irishgenealogy.ie to search for baptism and marriage records for your family. Kerry church records are available for the early 19th century.

  • Thank you for this, the church records are great, and I have found a number of Baptisms however there are no marriage records for the family, so maybe they had moved out of the area.
