I am searching for my ancestors from Cobh. My great grandfather was John Cotter born in 1875. His father was William born 1842 and his mother was Ann Daly born 1844 in Dublin. I am trying go back further than this on both sides. I beleive William's mother was Mary Kidney. Any help would be appreciated.

    I located a November 30 1839 marriage in Cobh on the subscription site Roots Ireland between Mary Kidney and John Cotter parents of William Cotter. Cobh records go back to 1812.  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0036

    I searched for baptismal records in Cobh for John Cotter and Mary Kidney and there were a number of possible records from 1812-1820 for both names. Five for Mary Kidney and three for john Cotter. The problem is trying to determine which record applies to the parents of William.

    Besides William there were baptismal records for three siblings: Johanna 1840 John 1845 Michael 1850.

    I did have William's siblings but cant find the death of Johanna or Michael. I have found out that there were 2 Cotter families living in Cobh around 1815 and due to some reason did not speak as the story goes. Trying to find which John goes with which family is unlikley. Thank you so much for your help.
