I am trying to find anything about David Lynch. I can only confirm that the David Lynch in the attached marriage certificate is a direct ancestor. His marriage was in Yass, New South Wales, Australia - January 31, 1846. The scant certificate details are attached.
However, I have a strong lead (but not 100% verified) that he was Transported to Australia from Cork as a Convict in 1839. My evidence is based on:
1) The same name, David Lynch.
2) My relative, David Lynch's Marriage was in YASS, New South Wales, Australia 1846. The Convict, David, seems to have been sent to YASS. I have not found any other David Lynch of suitable age in Yass in this period (1839-1846)
3) The marriage date is soon after Convict David had served his sentence and thus was allowed to marry without government permission.
I hope to be able to find any family connections to the Convict David and then via DNA see if I can confirm a match to my relative David. It is a long shot. I am open to any other suggestions.
Attached:
1) Marriage Certificate of (relative) David Lynch
2) My research on (Convict) David Lynch
3) Images (3 pages) - research on (Convict) David Lynch
Many thanks for anyway you can help. Megan

Megan:
Since his trial was in Cork city, I looked for baptismal records around 1820 in Cork city. These records are available on the free site irishgenealogy.ie
David Lynch baptized January 26 1819 Cork South RC parish (St. Finbars) father John Lynch mother Catherine Goffney ( might be Gaffney)
David Lynch baptized August 28 1819 Cork South RC parish father James Lynch mother Mary Lynch

There are several public member trees on Ancestry stating that David Lynch's first child was called John. This could mean David's father was named John. However, I did not see a source note for the son's birth information.

Thank you Roger and Patricia. I will try and get some matches with the names you have come up with.
David Lynch did have a son in New South Wales, Australia, called John c.1847. John's birth certificate has not been found, only John's marriage certificate that names his parents. (David and Catherine).
My DNA matches have linked me to the following person with Lynch in their name.
He is Timothy Joseph Lynch. Born Jan 20 1914 - Died Dec 8 1961. It seems he was from Cork. His son Austin Lynch (living) is the actual DNA match. The father of Timothy Joseph is also Timothy. His father is John. (unverified).
I will have a look at the Baptismal records to see if I can find any links.
All you help is much appreciated.

Here is a link to Timothy's birth registration on irishgenealogy.ie:

His father, Timothy, was a carrier. His mother's maiden name was Casey.
They lived on Shears St. in Cork.

I am also researching David Lynch. I have similar information provided above, but it helped me to tweak what I had, so muchly appreciated. I have been looking for Bridget Lynch, b. abt 1835 Ire to d. 1870 Sale, Victoria, Australia, who is my GG Gm however, recent research has led me to David Lynch. I thought by giving you my GEDmatch XL1627421 you could check if we are related. Fingers crossed for a match...
I do have a large tree on Ancestry and another on MyHeritage (needs lots of work).
