My gr- gr-grandparents came from here and left under forced emigration from the Irvilloughter estate. There were 3 Dempsey families in the group of those expelled. My family is that of Henry Dempsey. and Catherine Gerrity. Seek any information or guidance as to where I might find more information about the estate and my family.

The National University in Galway has a record of the main estates in Co. Galway and other Counties. Try Landed Estate NUI. Not responding at the moment!
Attached is a record of a "Harry Dempsey" in 1845. He was acting as a Guarantor for Sibby Madden who as obtaing a small loan. He may be of interest to you?

Thanks McCoy! I appreciate the info you sent me on Henry Dempsey at Irvilloughter. Amazing he couold be a guarantor in 145 and later described as in a horridd state of poverty at the time he left Ireland. I will see if I can access National University of Galway to get info on Irvilloughter.
