I am looking for assistance in locating my Derrig Family. John Derrig was believed to have immigrated from Westport to Quebec Canada in 1842 on the ship named "Warrier". Ship records showed he was 30 years old. His wife (Catherine Collins) was with him and ship records showed she was 20 years old at the time. I have not been able to locate any other records of John. Per a land petition filed by Catherine, he died in Canada around 1850 but I have not been able to find a death record for him. The family was located in Spencerville, Grenville County Ontario Canada and ultimately moved to Chicago Illinois USA
At the time of immigration they had two children: Michael Derrig born in 1840 in Ireland and Ann Derrig born in 1841 in Ireland. I have not been able to find birth records and their death records only show Ireland as place of birth. Michael was naturalized in 1900 in Illinois but I have been unable to locate his naturalization petition.
I believe Catherine Collins had at least one sister, Bridget who was born in County Mayo in 1821. She married a Michael Derrig (b. 1805) in Canada who immigrated from Ireland to Canada in the early 1840's. I have not been able to determine whether Michael was related to John Derrig but they lived on adjoining properties in Canada. Catherine Collins also had a brother John Collins (b. 1828) who immigrated from Ireland as well to the same location in Ontario. DNA confirms I am related to the John Collins line.
I would be grateful for any guidance in locating where my family is from. I see McGing appear in DNA matches but I haven't found the connection there either.

Sorry for the delay in responding. We had a systems issue which prevented anyone from replying to messages.
I checked the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listings for Co. Mayo. There were only 15 Derrig records and 7 of the 15 were in Aghagower civil parish near Westport.
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and was not able to find a marriage record or a baptismal record for Michael or Ann. Westport RC records do not start until 1845. Aghagower records start in 1828 but there is a gap between 1836-1842 so possibly Michael and Ann were baptized in the gap period. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1037?locale=en
I also searched for a John Collins baptismal record and did not find an 1828 record. There was a John Collins baptized March 31 1833 in Aghagower father was Austin Collins and mother was shown as Bridget Collins.
