I'm am researching my gg-grandmother, Rosanna Dillon.  I believe she was born in 1829 to John and Mary Dillon in the Civil Parish of Killanin in Co. Galway.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Tom

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not locate any Rosanna Dillon baptismal records in Co. Galway. The baptismal records for Killannin parish start later than 1829. I also checked for possible siblings but was unsuccessful.

  • Hi Roger,

Thank you for the research.  The earliest recond I have for Rosanna is her 1851 marriage to my gg-grandfather, James Francis Doyle, in New York City.  They had 8 children and raised their family in Brooklyn, New York.  The U.S. records list her birthyear as 1829 and her father has John Dillon.  Through the naming convention, I believe her Mother's name was Mary and their could be another close relative name Teresa.

I had a 3rd to 5th cousin match with Patrick Connolly, whose mother was Nora Dillane.  She was born in Cornarone in 1916 and immigrated to the U.S.  It is possible that Patrick's gg-grandfather, Matthew Dillane/Dillon (b.1828) could have been a sibling or first cousin to my gg-grandmother.
