Greetings all, I read with great interest the below article from here about Pierce Meany, who is my great-great-great-great grandfather:
https://irelandxo.com/ireland/waterford/clonea/message-board-answers/me…
Pierce Meany's daughter Johanna married David O'Connor and their daughter Catherine O'Conner married William McClunn, who is my great-great grandfather. My family in the United States to my best knowledge are the only remaining McClunn's in the world.
I would be delighted to find out how I can learn about the Meany's, O'Connor's and of course anything on McClunn's in Ireland.
Are there other direct descendents of Dr Pierce Meany living in your area?
Thank you!
Jack McClunn

Hello Jack,
Thank you for your message.
If you haven't already, it might be worth searching the subscription site https://www.rootsireland.ie/ (for Catholic and Church of Ireland parish records) and irishgenealogy.ie (for civil records post-1864). John Grenham has a fairly extensive list of potential sources: https://www.johngrenham.com/browse/. It might also be worth contacting Waterford County Museum: https://www.facebook.com/waterfordcountymuseum/. This page is specifically for Clonea, so might be a good initial port of call for making contact with local people: https://www.facebook.com/cuainfhiadh/.
Wishing you all the best with your search,
Cian
