Hi. My name is Jaime, I was born and raised in the United States and I am trying to see if I can learn about any relatives from the Doyle family who originally lived in Co. Westmeath or Roscommon.
My maternal grandmother was born in the United States (Massachusetts) but her biological mother was named Delia Doyle and we believe she originally came from the area around Westmeath or Roscommon. Delia was 25 when my grandmother was born in November 1920, so it means Delia was born around 1895.
Unfortunately Delia was unable to raise my grandmother and gave her up when she was a baby. My grandmother learned details of her mother from a foster family who had been friends with Delia. Also, Delia is listed on my grandmother's birth certificate.
I found a 1901 census of Ireland and Delia was listed as a 6 year old living in Moyvore, Co. Westmeath in 1901. The other members of her family were listed as follows: Mary Doyle (50) mother, James Doyle (44) head of family, Anne (13), Lizzie (11), Mary (9), Marsella (8), Rose Anne (3.) My DNA test results also link me to Roscommon. I would love to learn more about my maternal grandmother's side of the family.
Thanks for your help!
Jaime

Jaime:
The name Delia is a variant of Bridget. Possibly your great-grandmother was listed as Bridget in Ireland. Below are three 1901 census records for Doyle families with a Bridget who was 4, 5 or 6. Also, it is possible that Delia Doyle adjusted her age when she came to America.

Have you located the death record for Delia Doyle? Possibly the record would show parents names.
