I would like to find my great great great great grandparents  -  parents of John Doyle (born c1770 in Kilkenny and died 1858 in Jacquet River, New Brunswick, Canada) and Ellen Shea (Shee) (born c1780 in Ireland and died 1838 in Jacquet River, New Brunswick, Canada). My great great grandfather, Patrick Doyle was born in c1801 in Kilkenny.  Two of his brothers, Richard and Nicholas and one sister, Margaret were baptised in Gowran parish in 1809, 1814 and 1812.  All except Margaret are buried in Belledune Cemetery, NB.  Margaret married Roderick McNeil and lived in Grand Riviere on the Gaspe Coast, Quebec - across the Bay Chaleur from Jacquet River.  Patrick came to NB in 1821, another two brothers, Michael and John came in 1825 and the rest of the family, John, Ellen, Richard, Margaret and Nicholas came in 1831.  Another Doyle family from Gowran, James (b.c1797), Patrick (b.c1805), Ann (bap. Honor 1813), Sarah (bap. Sally 1817) also came to Doyleville (where John and Michael were living) in 1832, 1840 and 1839.  Another sister, Catherine (bap.1810) married Kyran Nowlan (Nolan) in 1844 - their children came to Canada and the United States in 1868.  The Nolan family were from Earlsbog - which is no longer there - the new motorway from Dublin to Waterford goes right through it!!!

  • There are  a few websites that hold records.

www.rootsireland.ie has a searchable database of Catholic Church records. There is a fee for using the site but it can be purchased on a daily, monthly or yearly basis.

Civil records are available on the link below

    https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

The census 1901/1911 census are available to search on http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

    Property records

Records of a place can provide useful information about where your ancestors lived. The main sources for records of place are Griffith's Valuation, the Tithe Applotment Books, estate papers and maps. They are available at https://www.nli.ie/en/griffiths-valuation.aspx

I hope you will be able to find some information to help through these sites.
