jack thanks for the information. I am not sure any of them match my Droughts but I am wondering about Colonel Drought.  My droughts are my great grandmothe Helen Drought born in the Wisconsin US in the mid 1800''s, her father was Thomas Drought, born in Ireland and came to Wisconsin from Canada, his father was George Drought born in Ireland and came to Canada/Quebec and his father we beleive was Richard Drought born in Ireland and his father might have been Wm Beasley Drought born in Ireland. We know Wm Drought was a soldier.  Finding records of Thomas and George's births in ireland.  

The only other bit of information I got was

Hi there is a big family tree on rootsweb by Lynne Nelson which I think covers this Drought family.  It shows Thomas and his siblings being the children of George (living in USA in 1832 and 1847) and George being a younger son of Robert Drought and Diana Drought.  I have a copy of the hand drawn tree that some of this info was probably originally taken from - shows this branch as being  of Cappagolan.  Perhaps it might be worth you contacting Lynne and might get moer info from her.

The Mary Ann Drought you refer to I believe was Mary Ann Short.  She was the daughter of Thomas Short and Lucinda Short.  The Short family first migrated to Ireland in the 1660s and were a part of the Adventurers scheme.  Before that they were from Staffordshire.  You can email me for more information if you like.  suemccall20@gmail.com.  Also some descendants of this family have had DNA tests done so if you are interested in more information regarding this get in touch.
