Hi all

I'm looking for the baptism record of my late grandfather Edward Hughes, who was born 19 December 1923 to John Hughes and his wife Catherine Connell. John and Catherine married in August 1923 but their marriage was registered in 1925. I've applied for Edward's birth certificate but it's not there. I suspect it might be recorded in 1925. I'd be very grateful if anyone can help, please. Thank you.

    Assuming John Hughes and Catherine Connell stayed local after marriage, you probably should contact the RC parish of Attymass   http://www.attymassparish.org/contact_priest.htm  and find out the process for obtaining the baptismal record for Edward Hughes. 

    Civil birth records online are only available thru 1922 due to the 100 year rule. Likely the 1923 civil birth record images will be added to irishgenealogy.ie within the next six months.

  • Thank you, Roger. They did emigrate to England after Edward's birth and all their other children were born in Lancashire. I will contact the parish and ask. Thank you again.
