Attached is a birth record for an Ellen Ahearne born 10 May 1869 in the Lismore workhouse, no father given, but mother listed as Ellen, not Mary Ahearne. Possibly your relation?

She would list her birth month as December in the United States Census.

Have been trying to find the death of Geoffrey/Jeoffry Pyne who died on/or before June 9, 1881.

Does the Presentation Convent School in Clonmel have any records on the students who attended?

The years/months of birth dates on US Census records are usually not accurate for that time period as people often did not know the year, let alone the month they were born. For all of my six great grandparents that emigrated from Ireland, none of their self-reported dates match the Irish parish/civil records, so don't concern yourself too much about that. 

I could not find any record of Jeoffry's death. The civil death records begin in 1871 in Ireland. If his wife Mary gave birth to Ellen in 1869, I'd say he died prior to Ellen's birth. 

Finally, regarding Ellen's birth record I attached earlier, mistakes were sometimes made when recording names, so her mother's name could have been erroneously written down as Ellen.

I'd be curious about what brought Jeffrey (how recorded on marriage rec) and Mary to Co. Waterford after they were married in Kilworth, Co. Cork. Do you know his occupation?
