I believe Ellen Mary Brophy, nee Berkery, the daughter of Patrick/John and Mary Berkery (nee Ryan, 1793-1868) was born in Borrisoleigh, Tipperary in 1834.
Ellen Berkery is my G,G,Grandmother and I would like to learn the reason the family left Borrisoleigh, Ireland in the mid-19th century for the colony of Victoria.
Mary married Daniel Brophy (1832-1895) of Ballarat, Victoria in 1859. Daniel left Castlecomer in 1847 during the great famine on the "fever ship" Abbotsford. I have a great deal of information on Daniel and would like to gain more information on Ellen Brophy and her parents.
Any information would be appreciated.
