There are four baptismal records on the subscription site Roots Ireland for children of Elliott McCoy and Jane Thompson. The church was the Clones Church of Ireland parish. The children were Margaret 1814 Samuel 1815 Sarah 1817 Mary Anne 1821.
I located an 1845 civil marriage record for Mary Anne McCoy to Richard McCoy. Mary Anne's father was Elliott from Sruveel.
See fourth record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…
I also found an 1849 civil marriage record for a Caroline McCoy to a soldier named Robert McCoy. Caroline's father was Elliott McCoy from Sruveel. Caroline was a minor. See third record

Hi Roger
Thanks for confirming details of Elliott Mccoy's family. I do know baptismal details of his many children at Clones and the death of his wife Jane at Tedavnet but have hit a brick wall trying to get more details of Jane Thompsons family or Elliott's parents/siblings. There were McCoys in the 1795 Flax records for Tedavnet but I cannot connect any of them to Elliott. Some of Elliotts children were baptized at Dundrummons near Clones so maybe the family moved to Sruveil in the 1820/1830s.
Many years ago a local researcher Mr Storey sent me an email advising me that there are still McCoy families living in the district and also connected to the church at Ballinode where some of Elliotts children were married. I would love to make contact with any of them to share family history both in Ireland and in Australia.
kind regards
Ross McCoy

FYI I live in the States so I'm not local. Maybe you can place a listing/ad in the Northern Standard as a way of possibly connecting with relatives.

I am descended from Samuel McCoy (1815 - 1882). He immigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia, with his wife Armah and daughter Sarah in 1841. A clergyman changed their surname from McCoy to McKay. He named his children after his siblings, and his second youngest son was named Walter Thompson McKay.

Hi Edward
Nice to talk to a relative of Elliott McCoy and his son Samuel McCoy/McKay. I did find a few details of Samuel online from newfoundland and labrador church records where some of Samuels children were baptized as McCoy and later on as McKay. Both Samuel and his wife were buried as McKay. Do you know any details of Samuels wife Armah/Armay or where she may have come from. Samuel was born at Clones in 1815 but I have had no success finding any details of Armay or when the McCoys left Ireland for Canada. I am on ancestry.com and have a DNA connection with Samuel and some of his siblings.
Let me know if I can help you with any details of Samuel or his parents Elliott and Jane.
regards
Ross McCoy
