One of the Founders of Rogers, Minnesota. Thomas Rogers traveled to Hassan Township with brothers Mortimer abnd Patrick Hynes. Also in the party was William Demery. They become farmers and cleared the land. A number of the children of the Hynes and Demery family married each other...my wife's family line is part of this intermingling. We would like to return to Ireland and visit her roots.

  • kraanman;

    Do you have approximate years of birth for the Hynes brothers, Thomas Rogers and William Demery? (By the way, Demery is not a surname tthat I've found in Roscommon.) Do you also have confirmation that they came from Drum parish e.g. cemetery headstone?

  • Forget Rodgers and Demery. The Hynes Bros. - Mortimer born May 1st , 1826, Patrick born March 1835. Are from your parish. Father Cyril Hynes, Mother Eileen Parker , I have nothing on them . Chris Wilhelm

  • Chris:

    I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and there are no Mortimer Hynes baptismal records anywhere in Co. Roscommon. For Patrick Hynes, I narrowed the search to the Athlone and Drum parish. There was a February 15 1835 baptismal record for a Patrick Hinds with father Patrick Hinds and mother Margaret Dunning. There were also two records in 1833 and one in 1834.
