We have unsubstantiated info that John Ennis (born about 1710 in Athlone, Westmeath, Ireland) married Elizabeth Nalls or Nalle about 1727. Then I have this, "The legend of the immigration of John Ennis to America involves a story that John killed a man being attacked by an English soldier. Versions differ as the reason: some have had a version that a man had poached birds because of hunger (i.e. the "bird killing" in some lines version of the events) and John killed the soldier; some that John killed a soldier abusing a tenant." Not sure what is true or myth at this point. they went to State of Virginia, County of Augusta by 1727.
Any connections?

Hi,
Thank you for your message and for sharing this information on the Ireland Reaching Out message board.
Perhaps, in addition to this you could also try posting your message in a local newspaper in Athlone? Hopefully this way someone in the area who may recognise the story or have some connections to the family, will have a greater chance of seeing it.
Some good papers to try can be found at the following links:

I hope that this suggestion helps, and that you are able to make some connections either through this message board or the local newspapers.
Kind regards,
