Hello, I am looking for the parents of Stephen Fahy and Honour Daly (Deely).  I cant find marriage information.   I know of five children. Bridget (1864), John (1866), Peter (1869), Stephen Joseph (1872) and Thomas (1875).  They were all in Derrybrien, Ballinakill.   Stephen Joseph (our family connection) immigrated to America and married Delia Roach (Roche), from Kilkenny. When they wed they did take a trip back to Ireland.  My guess is to meet family.  I have information on Thomas but not on Peter, John or Bridget.  I think 1911 Honor lived with Thomas and his family.  It states that she is a widow and 80 years old.  This is all I know of Stephen and Honour.  Any help or direction would greatly be appreciated.  Thank you. Aileen

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

John married Ellen Hehir in 1894 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1894/10555/5845198.pdf

Here they are in the 1901 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Derrylaur/Derrybrien_South/1388440/

1911 census Ellen had died http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Derrylaur/Derrybrien__South/465436/

I did not find Ellen's death record but she likely died giving birth to Delia or shortly after.

Here are Norah (Honora) and Thomas in the 1901 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Derrylaur/Derrybrien_South/1388446/

Looks like Honor died in 1912 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1912/05370/4497838.pdf

Not able to locate Stephen's death record at the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie

  • Roger,

Thank you for all the information you provided.

This has given me more  proof of the connection between a Fahy cousin in Ireland  to my husband that was shown on ancestry dna.  They are connected through the sons of Stephen and Honor, (Stephen Joseph and John. )    Some Fahy's had moved  to Portumna and I found  information there.  Like you, I still cannot find Honor's husband's death information or their marriage information.  However I did find that Stephen  had siblings,  John, Margaret and Michael.  I going to see if tithe applotment records will give me a clue.

I have found nothing on Honor (nee Daly)  other than the death record you provided.  If I find anything I will pass it along or if I get confused I'll reach out to you.     It gets difficult at times becasue their names repeat throughout the family generation.
