Thanks.

  • Hello John,

I don't know how far along you are with your research so forgive me if I am duplicating something which you already have.

I went to www.rootsireland.ie and found the marriage record for John Doyle and Ellen T.obin in 1858.  You would need to pay to view this record but you may be lucky and get their parents names from it.

If you have the parent's names then you can search this site for the baptismal records for John and Ellen.

The record for Ballylooby go back to 1828 so they should be there.  I found John in the 1901 Irish Census.  When you look at it make sure to click on the original documents as they show what type of house it was etc.  Go also to www.askaboutireland.ie and search griffith valuation for the family.

Clogheenaphisseoige is a really beautiful and picturesque little spot.

Let me know if I can do anything else ,

    Regards,

    Anne Dennehy

  • John Doyle's baptism is registered under the Waterford Records as is often the case.

His parents were John Doyle and Mary Ryan.

His date of baptism is October 12, 1839 and he was baptized in Ballylooby, Co. Waterford !!!

The sponsors were James and Elizabeth Ryan.

I'm pretty sure that the parents of Ellen Tobin were Patrick Tobin and Honora Slingsby but I can't find a record to prove this. My late mother recorded that this was the case and Patrick Tobin and Honora were her G.G. Grandparents. Ellen was apparently as much as 10 years older than John Doyle.

  • Ellen Doyle's death is recorded as December 10, 1886 at Clogheenafishogue, Tubrid.

It is a civil death record in the Cahir district.

Her age is recorded as 57, which if correct means she was born in 1829, 10 years before her husband, John who is the registered informant
