Hi, I posted on this website years ago and you helped me find my grandmother's family and am very grateful for that. It lead to me finding living relatives in Ireland and eventually going to Ireland and meeting them. It truly was an amazing experience. 

Recently, I have been working on getting dual citizenship. I have everything but my grandmother's birth certificate. I write to HSE and sent them a payment, but it was returned. I can't seem to find a birth certificate. Does anyone have any suggestions? I will be going to Ireland in August and hope to have this done before then. My grandmother was born in Limerick in 1901. Her name was Catherine O'shaughnessy and her parents were Patrick and Sarah. She had an older brother  John and several younger sisters.

    Per RootsIreland (paid subscription)

    Civil Record- Sarah O'Donnell and Patrick O'Shannessey were married 15 June 1897 in Askeaton, at Ballysteen RC.

    Patrick's address was Morenane, farmer, father- John, farmer (deceased).

    Sarah's address was Ballinacourty, father- John, Farmer.

    Witmesses Thomas O'Shannessey and Bridget Treahy

    Please see attached in relation to citizenship.

    If yo can confirm the details of birth supplied by MaryTV, you should apply to Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths at Convent Road, Roscommon, County Roscommon for a certified birth record. Cost: c20 Euro + postage.

    This is the birth entry for Catherine Shaughnessy born 23rd August 1900 Ballinacourty (?) Limerick to Patrick Shaughnessy and Sarah O Donnell.
