My great grandmother Margaret Cahill was born on Dec 14 1869 as per her obituary also showing she was born in Tipperary, Ireland in the obit. My problem is that when searching for birth information only two december births were listed in family search for margaret in dec of 1869. One was not an exact match but very close on Dec 12 1869 but was in Rathellen, Carlow, Kildare and Queens, Ireland. The other was an exact match of Dec 14 1869 born to Bridget Cahill and shows Limerick No. 2, St. Munchins, City of Limerick, Ireland. That is probably the one but she always told her family that she was born in Tipperary. I know that is close to Limerick so maybe she never knew she was born in Limerick or this isn't the right one. She immigrated to America around 1887 and married John Maguire in 1894. She settled in Troy, NY until her death in 1931.
Anyone have any ideas on this? thanks!

Thank you for your query. Do you know much about your grandmothers emigration? The dates, the reason why she left, who she may have traveled with?..etc..Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -And perhaps even find out an exact place of origin. If she did travel with somebody else then they may have recorded the correct place name of origin which would then allow you to find more records (Church).

Looking for Stephen Cooney born Ireland either 1839 or 1843. Found his marriage in South Australia in 1867 but can'r find his arrival in Adelaide nor departure from were and went. I have found 2 Steohen Cooney's on Scotish and English (both born in Ireland) for 1851.
He married Catherine Maguire (born Ireland) in 1867 and she arrived Adelaide 1856. Her parents were father John and mother Mary.
I would appreciate any birth, place, time whichmay help in my search. Thanks.
