Michael FLANAGAN born c1803 Elphin Co Roscommon, son of Thomas FLANAGAN & Bridget LEACH, married 6 Jun 1825 in Elphin Bridget HOGG born c1808 Elphin, daughter of Thomas HOGG & Honora DUIGNAN / DIGNAN. The family possibly lived in the townland of Flask (either Flask Beg or Flask More).

Michael & Bridget arrived in Sydney NSW Australia on 15 Jan 1840 on 'Crusader' with their children: Thomas c1828, Mary 1831, John 1835, Martin 1837 & settled near Carcoar NSW & had more children: Catherine b1841, Agnes b1843, Michael b1846 & James b1849.

Also on 'Crusader' was Patrick FLANAGAN, (born c1799 at Elphin son of Henry FLANAGAN, a hatter in Elphin & Bridget SHARMAN) and his wife Martha DUFFICY (born 1802 Elphin daughter of Henry DUFFICY & Bridget HAGAN). They were accompanied by their children.

    I located the transcription of the 1825 marriage record which is below. I also found baptismal records for threee children Mary 1831 John 1835 Martin 1837 Here is a link to the Elphin register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0556  Perhaps you can look for Thomas and see the entries for the other three children.

    I have downloaded the 3 baptisms and the marriage you mentioned and finally know which townland they lived in - Flask - which I presume is either Flask Beg or Flask More. I couldn't find a baptism for Thomas either. What a wonderful resource these Catholic records are.

    Are the rent rolls that cover the townland of Flask available anywhere?

  • Hello word love to get the images of the reocrds from you Helen that you got for Michael FLANAGAN and Bridget Hoggs Marriage and the baptims of their three children Mary 1831 John 1835 Martin 1837.  I find it very difficult to read the Elphin register.  I live in Australia and Michael and Bridget are my 4th Great Grandparents.  My email address is shereelouise60@hotmail.com for anyone to reply to this posting.
