Bridget born c 1826  - Her DC states she was 19 at time of her first marriage in Co Clare to Michael Heary?

Her DC states that she was 28 when she married Thomas Wallace in 1854 in USA which would make her birth c1826

Her DC gives her age as 84 which would make her birth c1825 with her birth place Ennis, Co Clare.

but how accurate would all this DC information be from a son-in-law to her 2nd marriage.

From her daughter Catherine's BC in1858, Bridget was aged 32 which means Bridget would have been born c1836

Ellen born 1824, died at daughter’s house Cree, Co Clare. She married Michael Boland (Michael Boland died Caherfeenick 1903) Children born Caherfeenick

Eliza born c1842 Caherfeenick, died 1932 Co Clare, married Patrick Connellan - children born Lisroe

Ann born c1847, did in Buffalo, New York, USA

The above information is from various descendants around the world, who, like myself, would like to confirm if all of the above children are actually children of the above Michael Galvin and Mary O’Donnell of Caherfeenick. Can anyone help please?  Pauline Turner (nee Fitzpatrick) - my great-grandfather was George Galvin

  • Hello,

Based on the records I have located, Eliza Galvin and Patrick Connellan were my great grandparents. They were married on February 23, 1869 in the chapel at Cree. The Marriage Registration records their ages as Patrick 34 and Eliza 25. I have read that recording ages in those days was only semi-accurate at times. Records indicate that they had seven children, Patrick 1875, Bridget 1877, John 1879, Ellen 1881, Joseph 1883, Peter 1885 and Elizabeth 1891 (for whom I could find no birth registration, but appears as a 10 year old in the Census of 1901). All of these individuals were born in Lisroe.

Patrick (DOB 3-26-1875) is my grandfather and immigrated to the US in 1903 or so it appears from the records. His brother John preceded  him to the US in 1900. Patrick married Josephine Reidy in 1905 in New Haven, CT. My father Vincent was one of their sons, born in 1917. The US Census of 1930 has my father's older brother Joseph living in Brooklyn New York with a cousin, Patrick Galvin age 49 and his wife Isabella age 45. According to the census record, Patrick immigrated from Ireland to the US in 1900 and Isabella from Scotland in 1911.

I have not as yet followed up on Patrick Galvin since I have been back tracking the Connellan branch, but plan to do so. I did see on Eliza and Patrick's Marriage Registration that Eliza's father's name was Michael. Her mother's name was not recorded. Based on Eliza's reported age of 25 on the Marriage Registration form, she would have been born in 1844 or 1843. Obviously these are approximate. Her father Michael therefore could been born in the 1805 - 1825 range although that is clearly speculation.

Thanks. That's all I have found at this point. It has been a fun journey so far, one that I plan to continue. I apologize for the long post.
