My g-g-g grandfather Garrett Burke was born in Kilmactigue Parish around 1786 and was married to Anne. He died 16 Sep 1858 in Gortermone, Banada. Might anyone have any info about Anne's surname? Their son Michael J Burke (c.1845-1890) emigrated to England and married Catherine Moffitt in Keighley, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Andrew Moffatt and Rose Durcan who I believe had been from Co. Sligo or possibly nearby in Co. Mayo. Family tradition had been that the Moffitt/Moffitt family had been from Ballinar which doesn't seem to exist- possibly Ballincar, Sligo or Ballina, Mayo?

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
The baptismal records for Kilmacteige RC parish start in April 1845 and marriages in 1848. I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a baptismal record for a Michael Burke with father Garrett. Likely he was born pre-April 1845. I did not find any other children of Garrett Burke. He is listed in Gortemone in the 1858 Griffiths Valuation survey 9listed as Garrett Bourke).
Here is a web site devoted to Kilmacteige parish and possibly you will find some useful information. https://kilmacteige.com/2016/08/kilmactigue-and-kilmactiege-parish-churchwebsite-is-online/

Thank you Roger! I'll check out the Kilmacteige parish web site. I know of at least one other child of Garrett Burke and Anne in addition to Michael J. Burke. Garrett Burke was born in 1824 in Gortermone and died 23 March 1885 in Tobercurry. He had married Anne Colleran from Curry.

Hello, I just a few moments ago found a Garrett Bourke aka Gerald Bourke/Burke b. 1824 in Gortermore, Banda, Co Sligo who married Anne Colleran on 9 Sept 1855.
She was born 1838-1922.
