My GGG Grandfather William Gilhuly (b. 1804) was born in County Roscommon according to his tombstone in Ontario, Canada.
He was settled in Ontario in 1828 according to land patent records in Canada.
His brother James Gilhuly came here in 1829.
William Gilhuly (1804) came with his wife Hanora Loughlin (1807). She was from Ballinglera On The River Shannon.
I have never found any records in Ireland for William Gilhuly.
I also have two DNA Matches that point
to GILHOOLEYS in KILRONAN in ROSCOMMON. I however cannot make an exact connection.
These point to the Gilhulys possibly in the Lough Allen area - southern tip.
