I am looking for any information on Gilmour's in and around the Balygalget region between 1800 and 1856. The last record we have from Ireland was a baptism document for Alexander Guilmore, born 1856 to John Guilmore and Eliza Glenn in Balygalget. There were 2 older children born in Ireland, James (c1849) and Mary (c1843) before the family made the trip over to Cumberland in 1858. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hello
For records linked to County Down I suggested:
For access to typical family history records www.rootsireland.ie and search the County Down section.

There is also two useful family history groups, well established focused on County Down. They gather sources and share information.

  • I am just starting to research my family tree and think James and Mary are my great-great-great-Grandparents. We have the spelling Gilmour but the dates, names and move to Cumberland tie-in. I would be interested to hear if you found out any information regarding this. Thank you.
