I am trying to find where in Roscommon my ggg grandparents and their family lived.
Father: Patrick Grady b 1809
Mother: Mary Reagan b 1811 (Mayo
(Since there were no cars at this time, they must have lived very close to the border of Roscommon and Mayo)
Son: John b 1838
Son: Patrick b 1839
Son: Thomas b 1839 (twins ?)
Daughter: Annie b 1843
They are in the 1851/1661/1871/1881 England census living in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire (Patrick Jr.’s daughter Bridget lived there, along with the family of her future husband Joseph Patrick Clark).
In 1886, the whole Grady family emigrated to Fall River, Massachusetts, USA.
If anyone has any suggestions to locate “where” in Roscommon the family came from, I would appreciate the advise.
Thanks,
Joseph Patrick Clark 4th

Joseph:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I looked at the subscription site Roots Ireland for Grady baptismal records with father Patrick and mother Mary Regan. I located an 1837 baptismal record for a John Grady with the correct parents in the Loughlynn RC parish records. Loughglynn is in Roscommon but very close to the parish of Kilmovee in East Co.Mayo. The 19th century Loughlynn parish records start in 1817 but there are at least two periods of missing records (1827-1835 and 1841-1849). I would also indicate that Grady and Regan are common surnames in that area so this record could be for a different family but at least you have a lead.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Wow, thanks so much, Roger !!! That is a great lead. Actually, we are booking our September flights to Ireland tomorrow. My wife has relatives near Goleen, Cork. We may have to book a B&B in this area. I know my Murphy g grandfather leased a farm in Coole, Westmeath so this is a second reason to visit the area. Thanks, again !!
