I have a photo carboard framed by H Allison & Co, Armagh, Newry, Dundalk and Warrenpoint. Left hand side of frame has embroidered A. Back of photo has {?} 14039. Is there a possibility anywhere I can check H Allison's photo records. I have no idea who the family are.

Dianne,
Your luck may be in. The company’s records (for all their premises) and their collection of photographs are in PRONI in Belfast. You can search the collection there. The records appear to contain details of who commissioned the photos. Background info here:

Note: "Another interesting and important aspect of the archive is the day-books for the Armagh studio which, apart from two, Sept. 1911-Oct.1915, have survived for posterity. Allison usually inscribed an identification number on his negatives and wrote the number into the day-book. This means that, generally speaking, it takes only a matter of a few minutes to check in the day-book, not only the date of the photograph but also the name of the person who commissioned it. This is obviously an enormous advantage over almost all other photograph collections which have survived in Ireland".

Many thanks Elwyn. Unfortunately I could not find the photo on the above link.
I was also unsuccessful in finding the day-book to check the photo number.
Do I need to join/log on to Proni to see all records?

Dianne,
I think you need to go to PRONI to look the records up. Or get a researcher to do that for you. Researchers in the PRONI area: http://sgni.net

Thank you for asking this question! I also do photography and it would also be useful for me to know about such archives. Tell me, how often do you find there what you are looking for? And did you manage to find information or materials this time?

I am always very sad when it is difficult to restore the history of photography. I am currently working as a photographer in an archive and am engaged in transferring photographs to a digital library. We also make and photograph today's history of modern families. Right now I want to find the best camera possible, I've read a lot of mirrorless cameras under 1000 review, but I know it's best to consult someone who has already done this. Are there any bloggers or photographers who use mirrorless cameras as well?

Of course, some great guys will be able to identify photos and picture frames for you. Artistic photos, whether family, friends or children in the family photo album is a household heirloom that keeps the memory of significant events and daily life of the family: family, relatives and friends. It is passed down from generation to generation. Family photos, which form a whole family archive over the years, are an integral part of every family's life. In the modern world, no holiday is left unprinted in photos. New Year, birthdays, weddings - it is photos that recreate the complete picture of the past fun. Photography is history, memories, bright moments of life, significant events, and family celebrations.
