Hi everyone,

I am hoping for information on my ggg grandfather Patrick Haney and his wife Bridget. Think they were born around 1815 (at the latest) in county Galway. They had 4 children :

Mary born circa 1833

Patrick born around 1836

Michael born around 1838

John born around 1842

The family were in Leeds, England by 1851 although Bridget had died by then. They remained known as Heany, but, my gg grandfather Michael, signed his marriage cert as Haley but later became known as Haney.

Michael's wife was Margaret Mahon from Dunmore, Galway, who he married in 1861 in England.Could this mean they were from the same area?Am thinking that immigrants stuck together.

Additionally, I have a DNA match to a Healy in Annaghdown, though it is distant.Confusingly, my Irish ethnicity is predicted to be east Galway and West Roscommon, it's all very confusing! Parish borders blur over time too, needle and haystack comes to mind.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thank you,

Dawn
