I am trying to trace the family of my granduncle Anthony J Hannan who was born at Craglea, Killaloe in 1883 or 1884. He emigrated to England and is recorded in the 1911 UK Census at Woolwich London Reg District No 30 as a Police Constable. He may have died in Brighton in 1937, but I am not sure of this.

I have no knowledge of his family, if any, but would like to make contact with them.

John Hannon  (Spelling of name changed subsequent to Anthony's birth)

  • Hi Miriam,

    Thanks for your post.

The Census for 1911 is not on your post as both are for 1901. I have the 1911 census and Anthony is not on same.

Mary Kate and Peter Duggan had no children, but lived in Killaloe for many years. Mary Kate died in 1956.

Anthony went to England but was never heard of again, and hence my wish to trace his family.

    All the best

    John

  • Hi Miriam,

Apologies for misleading. Yes I have a photograph of Anthony in police uniform and the 1911 Census has him listed as a police constable. He is listed as residing in a police barracks in London. I am not sure if the death notice of an Anthony Hannon Police Constable who died in Brighton 1937 is one and the same. Any help you can give will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    John
