Hello from Melbourne.
Does anyone have any connection to Thomas Hardiman and Margaret or Mary Concannon married about 1855?
Their son Thomas b 22 Dec 1858 athenry, migrated to Australia about 1880. He may have had cousins already in Victoria Australia, but we have not found a connection yet. Some of Thomas and Margaret Concannon's children were bernard, bridget, mary, michael, james (immig to USA), Nicholas (died in Boer war).
Found these 2 children in familysearch.com: margaret 27 may 1864 Athenry, Sebina 3 July 1866 Athenry
Any help in finding family connections would be appreciated. Jennifer in Australia

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you very much for your query on Ireland Reaching Out. Have you tried checking the General Register Office (GRO) for a marriage record for Thomas and Margaret/Mary? And also birth records. This will supply additional information for you. You have a year and a location, so that will narrow the search down considerably.
Are you looking for living relatives or researching your family tree? Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any particular assistance.
Kind regards,
Sinead Cooney

I think You might be related to a cousin of mine Bernard Hardiman who lives at Park, Tuam Road, Athenry. County Galway. I have srpoken to him and he said he had a great uncle who married a Concannon. He said that you can write to him or ring him 0035391844547 to discuss. Regards, Pat Hardiman (my aunt who was Hardiman married his Father who coincidently was also Hardiman)

Hello Pat, Thank you for getting in touch. I am very interested in contacting Bernard. I would prefer to write to Bernard or email him, as I live in Australia. Pat, If you have a family tree I would be interested in seeing it also. The Hardimans in Australia have been trying to find their roots and your research may help too. Please fee free to contact me at clanstepanovic@gmail.com Please send an address or email for Bernard

Jennifer,
My gr-gr uncle was a Dominican priest who met with the Athenry Concannons back in 1934 (they were relations to our McLoughlin clan). I have his genealogy notes and pictures of the Concannon family (Martin and Delia) in Athenry. I also have pictures of the Concannons who were living in Liverpool (Nicholas) around that same time. His notes mention a Margaret Concannon, but I can't guarantee it's the same.
Would be more than happy to share whatever I have.

Hi Patrick,
My father's family was from Athenry. My grandmother was Lillian Connelly (whose family was also from Co Galway) and her mother was supposedly named Anna Concannon (father Michael Concannon b 1827?).
I was wondering if your Concannon genealogy notes included any mention of the surnames:
McCarty, Connelly or Sullivan - all said to be from Athenry.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Patrick,
I just realized that Anna Concannon may have actually been born in England in 1859 - the family would have been from Co. Galway.

As luck would have it, he met up with the Concannons in Liverpool ~1934 as well. I have pictures of a Mrs. Rose Concannon and what appears to be her children, Lilly, Nicholas and Mary. I'm quite certain they were related to the Concannons he met in Athenry around the same time. They are descended from Margaret (Higgins) Concannon, daughter of Brigid (McLoughlin) Higgins, granddaughter of Laurence McLoughlin - all from Co. Galway.

Hello Jennifer in Australia, from Di in Queensland.
I have in my data, Thomas HARDIMAN, sponsor at Baptism of Thaddeus MANNION, 6 July 1851, Athenry.
Mortimer MANNION and Margaret HARDIMAN are parents of Thaddeus MANNION.
MANNION MANION from Athenry/Gloves is name I'm researching.

Hello Jennifer
re your Concannon and Hardiman query of February 2012-
I've found another HARDIMAN/MANNION connection:
Patrick and Eleanor HARDIMAN were sponsors at the baptism of Patrick MANNION baptised 16 January 1849, Athenry.
Patrick MANNION's parents were Mortimer MANNION and Margaret HARDIMAN, same parents as Thaddeus MANNION in earlier post.
Griffiths Valuations have Patrick HARDIMAN with 21 acres at Gloves East, next to Mortimer MANNION with 22 acres.
As a post script: the other sponsor at baptism of Mortimer MANNION, 6 July 1851, with Thomas HARDIMAN was Mary LANSKY.

I hope I can help you at some point. Jennifer

Hello Sinead, the GRO does not have a marriage cert for Thomas Hardiman and Margaret Concannon as they were married before 1864 registration. .. RC Marriage before 1859. most of their children were born before 1864 also. I am still trying to track down a marriage cert in parish records . thanks any way. I am enjoying the site and would welcome contact from living relatives. Regards, Jennifer (Melbourne, Australia)
