I am having difficulty finding a birth record and details of the wife for my paternal great-great grandfather Henry Dunphy and it would be great if someone could help. My Father was Henry Dunphy 1913 to 1996. Grandfather Maurice Dunphy 1883 to 1974, great grandfather Edmond Dunphy 1844 to 1913. All of them were in the area of Kill/Kilmacthomas and Rathanny and Ballinlough, Waterford, in Killbarrymeaden or Rossmore. The death record I have for Henry shows his father as Edmond Dunphy and his age as 84. so he would have been born circa 1790. The Ancestry trees of my American cousins show two different wife names and different fathers for Henry. Some of them say he was born in Kilkenny, which sounds doubtful to me. One record shows his father as Patrick Dunphy and the second Michael Dunphy. I have Henry's wife as Mary Delaney but not sure if that is correct.
I would appreciate any advice or help

John:
The subscription site Roots Ireland has a October 3 1844 baptismal record for an Edmund Dunphy with father Henry Dunphy and mother Mary Delany. Baptism was in the Kill RC church. Edmund had an older brother Maurice baptized November 27 1836.
I did not locate a marriage record.
Kill baptismal records start in 1797. I did a search but did not locate a record for Henry Dunphy in Kill.

Thank you very much Roger. I have a birth record for Edmond but have not been able to find any for Mary Delaney as well. Do you know if I would have any luck finding the grave records if I emailed the pp in Kill? As far as I remember my ancestors were buried in the one grave with a very short inscription saying something like here lie the Dunphy Family of Rathanny. FYI I was born in the Swan Lodge at Gardenmorris, Kill.

John:
Roots Ireland has a February 11 1811 baptismal record in Kill for a Mary Delany father John and mother Margaret Fitzgerald.
An e-mail to the parish priest might be helpful.
