John & Bridget Herrick nee Marksman arrived in Victoria, Australia with 8 of their 9 children in 1851. A daughter Mary was born on the voyage and lived for 6 hours.  Their eldest daughter Adorative Mae arrived in 1852 with her husband James Kelly and 2 children. James was the son of Roger & Ann Kelly and is believed to have come from the same area as the Herrick family.  John & Bridget had two other children born and died in Ireland, before the emigration of the family. I have not been able to find any documentation re the parents of John or Bridget.

The Buckley family, Peter & Margaret nee McLoughlan arrived in Melbourne on Christmas eve 1849, with their family of 4 children, a daughter Biddy was born and died on the voyage. Peter & Margaret were born in Parsonstown, Tipperary, as were two of their children, two others were born in Lorrha.  This information came from NSW State Records shipping reels.  At the time of their arrival Victoria was still part of the colony of NSW.

Parents of Peter Buckley were  James & Margaret Buckley, maiden name unknown.  Margaret Buckley was the daughter of James & Margaret McLaughlan nee Kennedy.  Margaret had a brother Owen McLaughlan was also emigrated to Victoria in 1854 with his second wife Bridget nee Young and children of his first marriage. Owen and Bridget had 3 children in Victoria.

The Herrick and Buckley families maybe were known to each other in Ireland, but were more closely joined by the marriages of Michael Herrick to Maria Buckley and Francis Herrick to Margaret Buckley. Francis & Margaret were my great grandparents.

All help greatly appreciated and I am willing to share my knowledge of the Australian descendants of these two Irish couples.
