Can you provide more information? What was the family religion? RC records go way back.

I checked the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Rathdowney civil parish and there were two Edmund Hewson records probably the same person living on Church Lane in the town of Rathdowney.

No Hewsons in the 1901 census in Co. Laois.

I'm researching my family history and have a record on a Joseph Hewson, born 1720 in Johnstown, Rathdowney, died 1765 in Clonkenny, Tipperary.  I don't know what religion unfortuately.  Hope this helps.

I have a record of a Edward Hewson born 1822 in the Clonkenny area, but I have him died and married at the age of 39 so my records are somewhat confusing!!
