I've been researching my family tree on my mothers side. My grandad was born in lower fahan in 1897 or 1898. His name was Hugh Doherty which I understand was (is?) a very common name. His father was Joseph and his mother was Maggie. Patrick, Maggie, Madge, Charles and Jane were his siblings. He emigrated to the UK at some point in the early 20th century and met my grandmother. Beyond that, I can't seem to find out any further information. If anyone can offer any tips, I'd be very grateful.

Annie:
Hugh was baptized February 23 1897 and the baptismal record showed a birth date of February 21 1897. His parents were Joseph Doherty and Maggie Longwill. The baptism was in the Buncrana RC church and the family lived in Buncrana. It does not appear that Hugh's birth was civilly registered.
The parents were married December 21 1893. See fourth record. Names of the fathers of the bride and groom were listed.

This is amazing! Thank you so much. I'm actually going to be in Buncrana this coming Saturday. We're taking a trip with family from Fintona. The visit will mean even more now that I have additional information.
Thanks again.
